Green Capital Christmas Walk

About

On 14 December, Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025 – invited residents and visitors to a free Christmas walk, where participants discovered the quieter and greener side of the capital together with their families.

Participants were able to choose from 6, 12 and 18 km routes. Families, friends, colleagues, neighbours and, of course, four-legged friends were warmly welcomed. Santa Claus greeted everyone at the start and finish area, where tea, snacks and a cosy festive atmosphere were enjoyed together. Many walkers dressed up in their best Christmas outfits, turning the walk into a small moving celebration.

During the walk, participants visited the peaceful Sapiegų Park, the Three Crosses viewpoint – where Vilnius shone like a Christmas card – and the newly renovated banks of the Neris River. Along the way, lesser-known parts of the city were discovered, revealing green Vilnius alive even in winter.

The walk became an opportunity to get to know Vilnius as the European Green Capital, prepare for the holidays on foot and welcome more peace and quiet into the festive season.
